Kaibab Camper Village by WYLDE exists because we believe some places are too special to simply pass through.
Most travelers know the Kaibab Plateau as the road to the Grand Canyon North Rim. We believe it's a destination in its own right—a place of towering ponderosa pines, cool mountain air, quiet mornings, wildlife, adventure, and memories that linger long after the trip is over.
We're building more than a campground. We're creating a mountain retreat where unforgettable North Rim adventures begin, lifelong family traditions take root, and every guest feels genuinely cared for.
This is the beginning of that story.
For eight months, this campground quietly became part of our everyday conversations.
We'd pull up the listing after the kids were asleep. We'd imagine what it could become. We'd sketch ideas, question whether we were crazy, and then dream a little bigger. Eventually, we realized we'd regret not trying more than we'd regret failing.
So we made one phone call.
A few days later, we drove to Jacob Lake to see the property for ourselves.
That same morning, another wildfire started.
It would become one of the most difficult seasons the North Rim had seen in a century. More than once, we wondered whether this dream was slipping away before it had even begun.
But every time we came back to the mountain, we felt the same thing:
This place was still worth believing in.
In May 2026, 17 months after we found the listing and started dreaming, we became the new stewards of Kaibab Camper Village.
Not because it was the easy path.
Because we couldn't imagine letting this opportunity pass us by.

Why We Bet Everything on This Mountain
We're Charise "Reese" and Levi—husband and wife, parents of three, and the family behind Kaibab Camper Village by WYLDE.
We didn't buy this campground because we wanted to own a campground. We bought it because we believed this mountain deserved a place to stay as memorable as the destination itself.
Like many families, we spent years working long hours, living in RV's, building businesses, taking risks, and dreaming about creating something that would matter long after we were gone. When this opportunity came along, we didn't just see a business—we saw the chance to steward a place we loved and build something our children could one day be proud of.
The campground you experience today is only the beginning. Every improvement, every tree we preserve, every guest we welcome, and every decision we make is part of a much bigger vision that's measured in generations, not seasons.
For Levi, the Kaibab Plateau isn't just a destination—it's part of his family's story.
His roots here stretch back six generations through the Bundy, Hall and Swapp families, whose lives helped shape this remarkable corner of the Arizona Strip long before it became a destination for travelers.
For me, it was different. I wasn't born into this mountain's story, I fell in love with it.
Growing up in the Pacific Northwest, I never imagined another place could feel like home. Then I found the Kaibab Plateau. The towering ponderosa pines reminded me of where I came from, while the red rock, endless skies, and wild beauty made me fall in love with the Southwest.
For years, I'd drive hours just to spend a day here. Long before we ever dreamed of owning this campground, this mountain had already changed my life.
Today, caring for this place feels less like owning a business and more like becoming a small part of its story.

We're building WYLDE one thoughtful improvement at a time.
Fewer, more spacious RV sites. Beautiful tiny homes that blend into the forest with private decks and soaker bathtubs. A premium bathhouse and sauna. A thoughtfully curated mercantile with fresh provisions, artisan goods, and Grand Canyon–raised, grass-fed beef from our family's ranching heritage through Grand Canyon Cattle Co. Paddle boards waiting beside a restored, historical mountain pond, Jacob Lake which lies on property. Community campfires with s'mores ready for roasting each evening. Curated adventures that begin the moment you step outside your campsite.
Not because we want to build more.
Because we want every reason to stay one more day.
The buildings will evolve. The experiences will grow. But the heart of this place—and our commitment to caring for this mountain and the families who visit it—never will.

As that vision comes to life, Kaibab Camper Village by WYLDE will grow into WYLDE Retreat and RV Resort, Grand Canyon North Rim — the same land, the same family, and the same values, built out into the destination we've always seen here. We're not there yet, and we're proud of what we are today while we build toward it.
Decades from now, we hope families are still gathering around campfires here.
