RV Park Manager Couple

Kaibab Camper Village by Grand Canyon's North Rim (elevation 7500 feet) is seeking an experienced RV park manager couple. Managers will be responsible for opening and closing operations as well as overseeing day-to-day operations of RV park and campground seasonally from approximately May 8 - Oct 15. Experience of at least 3-5 years as a successful RV park manager is preferred.

Office host must be able to handle reservations (manual system), registrations, possess good telephone skills, detail oriented, able to multitask, handle guests in a professional friendly manner, and manage retail store sales.

Outside maintenance person must be fit enough to work grounds and general outside maintenance for minor repairs, groundskeeping, customer service. Should possess basic electric and plumbing knowledge—must feel confident doing minor troubleshooting and repairs.

Both must be comfortable living in remote area, sharp thinkers, healthy, honest, and able to work at least 7 hour days, 30-35 hours per week and be on call. RV Park Manager Couple

The Kaibab Camper Village is in a remote area on the north side of the Grand Canyon. We are about 45 miles from the rim itself and about the same to the nearest towns—Fredonia, AZ and Kanab, UT—right on the stateline border.

Due to the remoteness of the campground, our reservation system is manual, NOT computerized. We hire only couples so the female works primarily in the office taking reservations, registering guests, staffing the small retail area we have. The husband is primarily maintenance, cleaning toilets & showers, emptying garbage, assisting with small electrical or plumbing needs, and escorting new arrivals to their space. We are looking for people who are well versed in customer service, detail oriented, and proactive workers.

The job is approximately 35 hours per week. Salary is based on experience. In addition, you are given a free RV space with sewer, water, and electric. Propane is on your own. There is cell service for Verizon, other carriers can be used with roaming. We also provide free laundry facilities for our hosts. We will have two full days of training—dates to be determined. Training will be conducted in Flagstaff, AZ.

The area is at an elevation of about 7900 feet, set in the pines, with lots of area to hike and explore. The average day temps seldom get higher than 85 in the summer. By late September and October nights can get down to freezing. Seldom do we have much snow before the end of season, but snow is possible at opening.

Managers should:

  • Work as a team to maintain superior customer service, great host communication and interaction, and a welcome and relaxing RV park and campground
  • Be aware RV park is open 24-7 from mid-May to mid-Oct, and you will be called out at any time
  • Be available for emergencies (broken water lines, power problems, etc.)
  • Work a regular 4 day shift plus one day doing dump and bank run
  • Have working knowledge of all aspects of park including office
  • Oversee and train (if necessary) hosts in all aspects of office
  • Resolve problems as they come up (shift reconciliation, PR with guests, etc.)
  • Oversee and assist with opening including, but not limited to:
    • cleaning and setup of cabin and office, etc.
    • turning on water and electrical systems
  • Monitor office supplies, order when necessary
  • Make bank deposits each week
  • Be familiar with park and company rules, see that they are enforced with guests and other hosts
  • Preplan for caravans and other groups (sites together, etc.)
  • Escort all caravans upon arrival and give any assistance needed (extra tables, etc.)
  • Be familiar with RVs and how they fit into park in regards to site size and utilities
  • Have knowledge of water system and how to maintain it, including:
    • how filling of water tank works
    • function of chlorinator and maintain chlorine in the water
    • filling and draining of pressure tank
  • Monitor water usage and find problems if water usage appears excessive
  • Monitor supplies for cleaning and maintenance and order when needed
  • Monitor plumbing and electrical supplies and replace when used—pick up at NAPA or hardware store in Kanab or order from Flagstaff
  • Learn the electrical system—shut offs and breakers
  • Be able to repair pedestals and other electrical problems
  • Know how sewer system works, including:
    • monitoring the diverter and leach field for solids and proper flowing into leach field
  • Maintain sewer system for lower toilets, shower, and cabin
  • Check septics and schedule timely pumping to prevent blockage (usually in July and at closing)
  • Be constantly aware of what’s happening around park including but not limited to:
    • fire pits, litter, sites with sewer spillage, etc.
  • Maintain golf carts
  • Monitor trash trailer and make dump run when needed
  • Empty showers and laundry coin collectors as scheduled, count and wrap quarters
  • Perform all closing activities, including but not limited to:
    • drain pressure tank
    • winterize ADA building
    • picnic tables stacked in barn
    • garbage cans stored
    • shut down sinks and winterize
    • shut down toilets and winterize
    • turn off water heaters in office and cabin
    • inventory as directed by home office
    • packing leftover inventory, cabin linen, etc.

  • Oversee campground sites and guests
  • Assist guests in parking and setup at site
  • Daily trash pickup and disposal
  • Daily toilet and sink cleaning
  • Daily shower cleaning
  • Daily fire pit and site cleaning
  • Maintenance of electrical, plumbing, and sewer systems
  • Other duties as needed
